Character Commission

This was a commission of a clients original character, I was given a full moodboard, breakdown of character and description of the overall aim for the image. In the photos here you can see the sketching phase where I was shaping the characters dress and facial structure traditionally in my sketchbook, alongside concepts of sketches for posing, framing and light sources.
In the sketching phase I like to ensure key details are correct and plan for different end outcomes, this includes multiple poses, angles and environments which are all sent off to the client for review so they can choose which sketch to move forward with.
The entire process I work very closely with the commissioner, ensuring all details and atmosphere is correct, a key feature they requested here was bright red lipstick and eyes, with vampiric fangs on display.
